City of Portsmouth College (COPC) has become the latest organisation in the city to sign up to the Fostering Friendly Employer Charter, run by the charity Fair Ways.

Fair Ways’ mission is to make Portsmouth the UK’s leading Fostering Friendly city, and with COPC adding its name to the list, the charity now has 65 signatories.

Fostering Friendly employers are committed to a simple workplace policy supporting foster carers, improving support for staff and making workplaces friendlier for foster carers – which in turn benefits the children in their care. It can also make it easier for those considering fostering, as they know their employers will be supportive.

Katy Quinn, Principal & CEO at COPC, and Mickiela Blake, Director of People and Organisational Development, were presented with the College’s official certificate by Fair Ways MD Gareth Webb.

Katy said: “We are thrilled to be the latest signatories to this important charter, and thanks to Fair Ways for their continued hard work in promoting the welfare of foster carers in Portsmouth through this mission. COPC is proud to be a part of it, and we are committed to supporting our employees who are also foster carers, along with those who might be considering it in future.”
